Texas Vision Photography was created to give photographers access to real Texas environments – working ranches, rodeo arenas, small towns, and everyday Western life. Our workshops combine hands-on instruction with places and experiences most people never get the chance to see up close. We focus on practical learning, supportive guidance, and a setting that makes every day different. The goal is to make photography more intuitive and less overwhelming.
Texas Vision Photography grew from that idea: to teach photographers in a setting that naturally teaches you back.
For years, Joe Duty taught photography classes in North Texas while working as a photojournalist. When Lisa joined him with her background in architectural and HDR photography, their combined experience opened the door to something bigger.
They realized the places they photographed every week—rodeos, ranches, local communities—were exactly the environments photographers wanted to learn in. Instead of traveling elsewhere to create a “destination workshop,” they built one around the real Texas settings they know best.
Our workshops aren’t staged or scripted. The scenes are real, and the instruction stays focused on helping you understand how to work in changing light, motion, and conditions.
Our instruction is built around clarity and real-world application. We explain the concept, help you apply it, and review your results so you know exactly what improved and why.
Joe spent 18 years as a staff photojournalist for the Wise County Messenger, covering everything from portraits and sports to community events, breaking news, and rodeo competitions. His work has earned multiple awards, including the Sam C. Holloway Award from the North and East Texas Press Association.
He is known for clear instruction, real-world problem-solving, and helping photographers understand the “why” behind every image.
Lisa is the owner of Pro360 Virtual Tours & Photography, specializing in architectural, HDR, and real-estate imaging since 2008. She is Google Street View certified and an FAA-certified drone pilot.
Lisa supports instruction, helps manage each workshop day, and ensures every photographer feels comfortable and supported throughout the experience.
Texas offers a mix of subjects that few places can match:
“The top things I learned from the class were: good use of flash, strategies for photographing different events, overall tips for good photography and getting "up close and personal”. I loved seeing other peoples work and all the reviews and critiques.”
“I enjoyed the varied amount of shooting experiences that required a varied amount of camera settings....Thanks for a fabulous experience! I really appreciate all the time and effort it took to put this together”
“I loved the down to earth feel of the class. I felt comfortable asking questions. Great teachers with lots of knowledge and they broke it down in a basic, easy to understand format. I am now able to work the camera I have had for years!”
“This workshop, run by Joe and Lisa Duty, is one of the best I have ever attended. They are very knowledgeable and helpful for every participant’s photographic needs. The workshop was structured to cover a variety of subjects and photographic treatments to please everyone. They made everyone feel they were a valued member of the group, no matter what level of photographic expertise each person brought to the workshop. That level of inclusion in the group process, and support is rare in my experience, I would have no hesitation in recommending Joe and Lisa Duty to anyone considering any of their workshops or tuition, and hope I shall have the privilege of working under their guidance again.”
