SEEING
FEELING
CREATIVITY
How do you SEE the image?
Seeing the image is as much about feeling the image and translating that into a visual experience. After shooting for a community newspaper for 20 years, I had to do something to keep the images fresh and new every year. I still ask myself every time I walk out the door with my camera, how can I create something different.
- Joe Duty
Weekend Workshop: $995
3 Days - May 5-7th, 2023
From western influence to classic cars, this workshop will give you a variety of subjects to hone your creativity.
The workshop is hosted by Joe and Lisa Duty at the Decatur Visitor Center, one block off of the town square. The first day of class we will take a photo walk downtown to start the process of learning to "see the image". After lunch, we kick it up a notch and take a field trip to the Fort Worth Historic Stockyards for the Herd Cattle Drive and another photo walk.
Day 2 starts with classroom instruction and the afternoon into the evening will be comprised of shooting a car show on the square. The car show offers a variety of subjects from amazing faces to tricked out rides.
Two very different events, give you the opportunity to work on your versatility as a photographer. Skills you learn at this class can help you bring back the shot you've been looking for from your next vacation!
The best workshop I have attended!
“ I was challenged at the level that was appropriate for me. I learned more than I expected and was exposed to new ways of thinking about how to photograph a given situation. "

The Hands on learning was amazing!
"My favorite thing about the class was the wide range of info that covered any type of photo in every environment.”
Mandy Taylor
Class - Photo 101 Texas Style
I think this was a great experience!
“I went to downtown Decatur to take photos one evening after class. I used so much of what I learned to take shots that would not have turned out so well, if it wasn't for this class.”
Wynton Thomas
Class - Photo 101 - Texas Style
Before I even get to the workshop I have to talk about Joe and Lisa!
“ While Joe did most of the talking, when Lisa spoke up was on target and absolutely relevant and informative. Sometimes it filled in some blanks that Joe left out and sometimes it was a discussion of how Lisa does it differently. Each was offered as an option and they encouraged us to find the choice that worked best for each of us."
